I think the silver lining in all of this—and by that I mean the COVID-19 situation right now—is that ever since I started working from home in March of 2019, I got a lot of time to myself and I noticed that I was able to cut back on a lot of stuff.
I No Longer Go Eat Out
Yep. It’s true.
Ever since quarantine, I’ve not stepped inside a restaurant. Usually, I’d go eat out at least once every two weeks.
But now? Nope.
I’m not saying that I will never go eat out anymore. Just that because of COVID-19, I’ve learned to cook for myself and save that money on more important stuff.
Going out risks my chance of coming into contact with COVID-19 anyways, so this was a win-win situation for me.
I Don’t Go Out as Often
While the rest of the world is staying home, Americans are going out partying, bar hopping, and flocking together like quarantine isn’t there.
🤨
I don’t know about you, but I’m staying home.
The only times I ever go out is when I need to. Like my bi-weekly grocery trips and when I really need to get something from the store.
I don’t drive. But I used to take public transportation everywhere. Now, because of COVID-19, I no longer get on the bus like I used to.
I stay home quarantined like everyone else.
I don’t even go out to see friends. Instead, we do a Zoom call once in a while to catch up with one another.
I Cut Back Spending Money on Unnecessary Things
With all of my time quarantined, I’ve significantly cut back on spending. Except for my essentials, when was the last time I bought something because I like it?
Um…five months ago?
I don’t even do Amazon Prime.
Oh boy, I just realized I’ve truly been a hermit.
Instead of spending money on the cute water bottle here and the blue sweater there, instead I’ve opted to purchase big-ticket items that give me long-term happiness and satisfaction.
I wrote a post all about that here. Check it out!
What’s the Silver Lining In All This?
The only silver lining that I’m able to see in all of this is that I am able to cut back on spending and instead, have invested that money into my savings account.
What’s your silver lining in all of this? What things have you been able to cut back on? Comment below because I’d love to know!
