My Top New Year’s Resolution in 2022

My Top New Year's Resolution in 2022

January 17, 2022

Today is January 16, 2022.

And I am so happy to announce that I have achieved one of my New Year’s resolution in 2022!!!

I cannot believe it.

At the end of December 2021, I took some time to put together a list of resolutions that I want to accomplish in 2022. After thinking about them for a few days, here was the list I came up with.

The Top Resolutions That I Will Achieve in 2022

  1. Find a job that makes $60,000+ per year.
  2. Max out my HSA.
  3. Max out my Roth IRA.
  4. Max out my 401(k).
  5. Save $15,000 total into my Emergency Fund Savings Account.
  6. Achieve $1,000 total from my side hustle income.
  7. Learn a new skill: copywriting.

The number one priority in 2022 was to make a career switch and get a salary increase!

As I applied for jobs, I repeated this mantra over and over again: Find a job that makes more than 60K per year.

So when I received my first phone call from the recruiter, I told her, “Based on my experience and skills, I am not looking for anything less than $60,000 per year.”

I am ecstatic to announce that on January 14, 2022, I received a job offer with a $60,000 base salary and 10% bonus.

😱

I’m only one month into the new year in 2022 and I already accomplished my top new year’s resolution!

But that’s not all…

After re-evaluating my personal savings, I realized that I also achieved resolution #5: Save $15,000 total in my EFS.

What Does it Mean Now that I’ve Checked Off Two of My New Year’s Resolutions?

I currently have $20,000 in my personal savings.

But that’s not all.

I’ve been keeping track of my networth and I am proud to say that I currently have $75,000 to my name.

I cannot believe it.

Just kidding, I can.

I have been saving my money and working so hard to accomplish what I have today, so I am really glad to be where I am.

It’s not luck—it’s called being smart with my money.

To be honest, I was a bit worried about accomplishing the following new year’s resolutions in 2022:

  • Max out my HSA.
  • Max out my Roth IRA.
  • Max out my 401(k).
  • But now that I already have more than 15K in my ESF, I can put this money towards the following resolutions above.

I can say with confidence that I will be able to meet the goals above.

Not only that, I am challenging myself to set aside $500/month into my brokerage account. I want to learn and improve my investing skill this year.

My goal is to have a networth of $100,000 before I turn 25.

What About the Rest of My Newy Year’s Resolutions for 2022?

I’ve been setting one hour aside each day to study copywriting on the side.

It’s a habit I started since January 3, 2022, and so far it’s been going very well. I only missed one day, but it’s okay. I am not trying to be too hard on myself.

I need to give myself some grace.

As for my side hustle, I am exploring some activities on the side, and I am really excited for them. My goal is just generate $1,000 total from any of these side hustles.

It will be a very fun and exciting journey and each step of the way, I will use my copywriting skills to help me sell my services and skills.

    Let’s get it!

    How Do I Keep Going?

There’s no easy trick to this.

It has taken a lot of discipline to get me to where I am today—16 days into the new year.

But something I keep reminding myself and that keeps me going everyday is, “I don’t want to look back one year from now and regret not starting today.”

Or another way of saying it, “I don’t want to look back one year from now and wish I started then.”

Another method I used that’s been keeping my disciplined this whole time with my copywriting studies is to make my accountability public.

I won’t share too much about it, but I record myself studying for one hour each day and put it in a public space.

This has been super helpful in motivating me to study each night because I feel like because the public is watching me, I need to be more accountable.

Anyways, that is all. I am very happy and excited about how far along I’ve come.

From a country girl who only knew about life in the small village surrounded by mountains and sleeping on bamboo beds to college-educated woman who has a decent job and exciting goals she want to achieve.

I just wanted to share this news with everyone out there who cares—or doesn’t, hah!

I’m excited about what 2022 has in store for me. Or should I say, what I can accomplish in 2022.
