It's Been Too Long. Let's Welcome 2022!

Indeed…it has been too long.

Too long since I last posted on this website, but nevertheless, let us usher in the new year.

Once again, happy new year everyone!

Did you know?

2022 is basically 2020, too.

Get it?

But I digress.

I’m back and I’m here to do a countdown of what happened in 2021, and what I am looking forward to in 2022.

What Happened in 2021

Website Traffic

First and foremost, I thought the website started out strong.

I had a plan in place. I was willing to commit to two articles per week, but alas, things did not go according to plan.

The number one reason?

I lost motivation.

It’s difficult running a website by yourself. It’s difficult being the sole person doing the the research, the writing, the editing, and promotion.

Could I have outsource all of this?

I could…but I didn’t want to because I didn’t have the money to!

In anycase, traffic to the website experienced it’s up and down.

But hey, it’s still here.

And after experiencing all of this, I have an idea of how to better approach content 2022.

Interview Series

If you didn’t notice, I started a mini series where I interviewed some women about their career trajectory.

It was a very fun and exciting project.

I was able to produce five interviews!

But my priorities shifted and I no longer am able to pursue the project.

Nevertheless, I learned a ton of valuable information from this project. I was super nervous in my first interview. The worst part? The audio was cutting on and off, so it was even more difficult understanding what she was saying on the other side. But I didn’t give up and everything worked out in the end. So what exactly did I learn from this ordeal?

  • I developed a 2-5 sentence script that I used to introduce myself to the interviewee so they would understand who I am and why I’m working on the project.
  • I learned to create parameters around each interview. If I don’t, the interview would continue on forever. I developed a set of seven interview questions that I absolutely need to get through, and this helped me keep track of how much more information I have and I still need.

Well, there’s more, but these were the main two.

I Bought a House!

If my future self told me I’d buy a house in 2021, I would shake my head and ask myself, “Why? What was the reason?”

The situation is complicated, but I did buy a house.

I did the unimaginable.

I’m just kidding.

Well, I’m not kidding about the house, just the unimaginable…but I digress.

I own part of the house because on paper and everything, the house is under my mom and I.

But technically, everyone in the family pitched in to buy the house, so in reality, I only own part of the house along with my five other siblings. 😆

But because on paper it’s only me and my mom, I am technically a home owner.

Looking Foward to 2022 and the New Year

I don’t really know what’s in store for the new year.

I mentioned having a better idea of what I want to do for website content, but by that I meant knowing what to do in terms of “content production.”

Whereas what I want to blog about, I still don’t know—of course, it’ll have something to do with finance because this is a financial website, but I don’t really know what topics to blog about.

I’ll have to do some research on this.

In anycase, I just want to wish everyone and myself a Happy New Year!

One day, I’ll look back on this be grateful that this website existed.

😁
