Are you a late bloomer?

You know—slow to grow up. Slow to take action. Slow to basically most things!

I’m a late bloomer.

I didn’t have my first phone until I was a sophomore in college. Yes! I didn’t have a personal cellphone until 2016.

I remembered walking into Apple and browsing through the collections of iPhones on display.

I remembered picking the iPhone 7 Plus and shelling over 1K to the clerk.

Then, I remembered taking the escalator to the second floor where I bought my first phone plan with Metro PCs, now known as Metro.

My first phone bill costs me $55/month. Since I bought it right around Christmas, I was on a special promotion. I think it was 5 GB of data plus unlimited talk and text.

I was so happy.

Then, a month passed and I realized I had only used 1 GB of data and 30 minutes of talk and text. Mind you, I was living on campus at that time, so I had access to the internet 24/7.

This continued for a year, and I realized that I was wasting money on a plan that I wasn’t even using.

So, I started searching for a phone plan that would suit me better; a plan that would allow me to cut down my bill. After a few days of researching online, I finally settled upon US Mobile

I chose this plan because it was:

  • Cheap
  • Offers at least 100 minutes of talk and 100 texts
  • Gave me 2 GB of data every month

At that time, the phone bill came out to be $25/month. In the first month, I realized that I was not using all my data, but I was constantly out of minutes. I had to purchase additional minutes and sometimes, even data. After a year of the same thing almost always occurring month after month, I decided to find another phone service provider.

And I finally settled on Mint Mobile, which is my current phone service provider.

Why Mint?

Because it’s cheap, has unlimited talk and text, and I 3 GB of data per month. All for a total of $15 per month.

But here’s the catch. In order to get such a sweet deal, I need to stick with this plan for the next 12 months.

That’s how Mint Mobile works. This is a phone service provider that offers phone plans based on a 3-month, 6-month, and 12-month basis.

If you’re like me and want to pay for something and just completely forget about it, then you need to check out Mint Mobile. Please note that I am not an affiliate of Mint Mobile (Pssst. Mint, if you want to sponsor an article for me, hit me up). The link above does, however, give me credits if you do make a purchase with Mint.

How Does Mint Mobile Works?

  1. You choose a phone plan.
  2. You make a one time purchase.
  3. You wait for the sim card to arrive and you start using your phone.

Easy as that.

But wait—there’s more! Mint offers the following features:

If you refer people to Mint Mobile, you actually get rewarded with credits that you can use to purchase Mint Mobile phone plans.

Also, please note that once you buy a phone plan, you will not be able to switch to a different phone service provider until your plan expires.

That means if I bought the 12-month plan, I will not be able to switch to a different phone service provider, say, T-Mobile until the plan expires.

This may not be for you if you don’t want to be glued to a phone service provider for months on end. But for such a sweet price? I took the deal.

I am currently on the 12-month phone plan. For that, I get 3 GB of data and unlimited talk and text. I paid a one-time payment of $180 + taxes, so approximately $200 per year.

Forget about forgetting to pay my phone bill. I no longer have to see a phone charge in my bank account for the next 12 months.

Mint offers pretty good coverage and they recently upgraded their plans to include 5G LTE data, so customers are getting faster and more efficient phone coverage.
